How long is a tandem flight?

Approximately 20 to 30 minutes in the air depending on air conditions, the style of flight you request, and how much you enjoy being up in the air (if you want to experience some fun tricks this will get you faster to the ground)

You should budget 2.5 hours for your entire experience. This includes meeting time, a 40-minute shuttle to launch, a 10-minute set-up, a 10-minute pre-flight ground school,  a 10-minute debriefing/pack up.

Although we run on a schedule, air conditions and weather may delay us (sometimes a few minutes, other times an hour or two), please be patient as we have no control over weather conditions. No. Video or photos are not included. We recommend bringing your own camera with a leash or selfie stick. In some occasions, we have a photographer on site to record video or take photos for our social media accounts. We will be happy to provide a copy of these photos and/or video when available.

Is it safe?

All of our instructors are highly experienced with a perfect safety record.

Unlike hang gliding, in paragliding you are seated below the wing in the harness and can see both (2) attachment points, ensuring you are properly connected to the wing the entire time. Everything is redundant and in plain view.

Your flight instructor is there to deliver the flight you wished for and to ensure you have fun. Decide on a mellow flight or one with big thrills; everything is possible. Talk to your pilot and share your expectations with him to ensure we make the best out of your tandem experience.

How old do I have to be?

Our youngest person was only 8 years old, and the oldest a person was 92 . All children under the age of 19 must have a parent sign the waiver for them and be present. All participants require a reasonable standard of fitness, equivalent to being able to do a short sprint and jumping down a couple of stairs.

When do you fly?

Our seasons starts in May and ends in September. We only fly when weather conditions are suitable for the sport. Nice sunny, cloudy days without precipitation, strong winds or wild fires. We do not fly in winter conditions.

Most flight times are scheduled in the morning, as conditions are more often favourable in the first half of the day for tandems. Expect meet-up times between 8:30am and 1:30pm, which will be offered based on the conditions of the day.

Can I fly when it is raining or only on sunny days? how about winter?

In order to be able to fly, paragliding requires there to be no precipitation and the correct wind conditions. Sunny skies don’t necessarily mean that conditions are flyable as wind conditions are extremely important in the sport.

Reservations are made on the hope of flyable weather. Please be prepared to have alternate flying days if the weather doesn’t permit flying. Sometime your flight may get cancelled due to unfavorable conditions, we will only fly when conditions are appropriate for tandems. Above all, we want to ensure your safety and that you enjoy your paragliding experience.

Tandem season is available from May to September in Pemberton. We do not fly in snow and winter conditions.

Are there any restrictions?

We do have weight restrictions in place (from 30kg – 100kg) depending on client fitness and weather conditions. Heavier or lighter people can be accommodated on an individual basis. If you have any injuries, or are scared of flights please inform us in advance to assess the situation. No pregnant individuals or if not allowed by your doctor.

In most cases we can get 2-3 people in the air on the same round. However, sometime we may have to split your group based on the number of people in your group and number of pilots available on that date.

Some of our tandem pilots are are not full time employees and they must travel 1-2 hours to get to the site. It’s very important that if you have a large group you contact us days in advance to confirm all details.

What happens when I get there?

We meet at a convenient location in Pemberton where we will go over the standard form releases.

A shuttle will pick us all up for a 40-minute transit to the launch via some fun and scenic logging roads. Once we arrive to launch, you (and any guests with you) can have some time to take pictures from the scenic 4000ft site while the equipment is set up for you.

You will then be guided by the pilot through a brief pre-flight ground school and set up for your flight. Then you will take off for your flight and take in the amazing views of the valley, mountains, and rivers… landing in our selected Land Field 4000ft below. You will then have a debriefing as we pack up the gear.
